Notie Brown

On Sunday, May 29, 2011, Notie Kate Brown entered into her rest. She was the second of three children born to Roosevelt and Hettie Brown on April 8, 1925 in Rose Hill, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Dixie Brown, daughter, Pinkie B. Perkins, grandson, Kelvin Perkins, parents, Roosevelt and Hettie Brown, and brothers Kelly and Timothy. She grew up in Rose Hill, Mississippi where she was baptized at New Homer Baptist Church. During the 1950â€™s, she relocated to New Orleans, Lousiana with her daughters. She later joined Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in New Orleans where she taught Sunday School, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School and Baptist Training Union. After Hurricane Katrina, she relocated to Villa Rica, GA where she renewed her relationship with cousins from her childhood, the Thigpens and Robertsâ€™ family. She became a member of Destiny World Church in Austell where she enjoyed the motivating biblical teachings from Pastor Wilbur T. Purvis III. During 2008, Notie visited and joined The Church at Mirror Lake, now LifeGate Church in Villa Rica where she treasured the practical teaching of the Word of God. She loved the people of LifeGate and they loved Ms. Notie. Once Notie became ill and was unable to attend service, she would spend many Sundays listening to her daughter Katie recap the sermon from LifeGate and her grand-daughter with notes from Christ Centered Church, Pastor Timothy L. Fryar. She was always amazed and tickled at how often Pastor Tony & Pastor Tim had delivered sermons on the same topic. She loved the Bible and she loved the hymns. She leaves cherished memories to: Katie Brown, daughter; grand-daughters Melanise (Austin) Frederick, Celeste (Darrell) Easter II; great grandchildren, Dominique, Shauntell, Jasmine, Austina, Chloe, Cyndrika, Darrell III and Joshua, and five great-great grandchildren as well as a host of many other relatives and friends A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11 oâ€™clock from Lifegate Church Mirror Lake. The Family will receive friends following the service. J Collins Funeral Home and Cremation Service in charge of arrangements.
