Ralph Fuller

Mr. Ralph Fuller, age 83 of Villa Rica, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. Ralph was born April 17, 1930 in the New Georgia Community, the son of the late Pearl McGuire Fuller and Ben Fuller. He grew up in the Fullerville Community of Villa Rica where his father was The Chief of Police and later The Chief of Police in Villa Rica. He graduated from Villa Rica High School in 1949 and served in the United States Army. Ralph had a great love for boxing and held the title of Golden Gloves Champion in the late 1940's. He was a Barber by trade and owned and operated his barbershop in the Tri-County Plaza for over forty years. His shop served as an important place for discussion of city affairs, sports and other topics of conversation. On slow days in the barbershop you could always find a group of Villa Rica’s finest enjoying a rather interesting card game. Generations of Villa Rica men depended on Ralph for a haircut and shave. Ralph loved his community and his customers. He spent countless hours traveling to the sick and shut-in to cut their hair, all the while refusing to take payment. Ralph was a Christian and Baptist by faith. Survivors include his daughters, Dare Pace, Temple, Bengie Fuller, Villa Rica, Temolin Dempsey, Temple; grandchildren, Krista Adams, Temple, Cortney Claussen, Waco, Austin and Katie Pace, Temple, Robin Dempsey, Villa Rica, Josh Dempsey, Temple and Joseph Bovona, Temple, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Brown and Rema Aiken, brothers, Clifford Fuller, James Fuller, Woodrow Fuller and twin brother, Ray Fuller. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. from Fullerville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Swafford and Rev. Roger Luke officiating. Music will be provided by Kelly McCord. Pallbearers include Richard Woodcock, Bo Addison, Robin Dempsey, Josh Dempsey, Austin Pace and Chuck Dempsey. Interment will follow in the New Georgia Baptist Church Cemetery.
