Gwendolyn Hammond

Mrs. Gwendolyn Dorman Hammond, age 84 of Villa Rica, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born February 17, 1928 in Barnack, England the daughter of the late Mr. William Betts and the late Mrs. Rose Betts. She married Paul Dorman in 1945 and moved to The United States after WWII. After working over 40 years, she retired from Oxford Industries. She was a loving wife and mother and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening dancing and reading, She was a wonderful cook and celebrated many special occasions with her family. She had a gift for getting along with everyone. Those who knew her loved her and she loved them. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Dorman, second husband, Dave Hammond, sister, Sheila Betts, and brothers-in-law, Harry Brown and Gerald Racher. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Evert Cornelius, Augusta, Deardre and Steve Wilson, Villa Rica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and Norman Perry, England, Daisy Brown, England, Joyce Racher, England, and Brenda and Earl Campsall, Canada; three grandchildren, Angela Vinson (Gaylon) of Rome, Christy Stradley (Joe) of Acworth, and David Wilson ( fiancÃ© Christina Schmidt of Villa Rica; three great grandchildren, Chelsey Vinson, Blake Vinson and Jacob Stradley along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1 oâ€™clock from J. Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Clifton officiating The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 6 until 8 in the evening. Interment will follow the service in West Georgia Memorial Park with Steve Wilson, David Wilson, Gaylon Wilson, Blake Vinson, Joe Stradley and Evert Cornelius serving as pallbearers.
